The worrisome increasing rate of cruelty on maids

On my way out earlier this week with pants rolled up and leg dipped in flood in my areaarea (don't abuse me, if you live in Lekki-Ajah environs you will understand). Well that's was when I saw a woman,  she must be in her late forties judging by how she looks.  Standing in front of her house,  as I got closer to her I saw a girl of probably 10-12 years of age running towards her,  panting heavily from the running,  handed her a recharge card I guess. By this time I was actually very close to both of them. Then I heard the woman say to the girl, "come here,  have u washed all the plates and clothes I left for you?" the girl with fear written all over her face gently shook her head, signifying she has not done the required chores. Like thunder the woman landed a slap on d young girl.

I felt my body shuddered,. No matter the situation, such a young girl shouldn't be punished like that. The woman kept shouting and hassling the little girl,  and then gave her a stern warning that if on her return the girl has not completed the task, she will regret she was born. Being a gentle Lagos boy,  I just Waka pass,  pardon my language. 

Couple of steps from them I heard other passers by saying she never hit her own children, that the lady is actually her house girl. I felt pity for the little girl made to go through such cruelty. May God save her. 

But please readers enlighten me. What's with women of nowadays  and how they treat there so called house helps. Not long I heard of how a lady in Lagos use razor to pierce the body of her 12 years old house help in several places.  

Moreover,  why is it that little girls are mostly the one used as helps In this so called rich folks homes? How do you expect a child who went through such chidhood not be filled with hate towards life? 

May the good Lord help them and help us too.

The ATM Drama

There I was waiting anxiously,  panting from walking miles to get to The nearest ATM machine. Fortunately the queue wasn't long. Waiting patiently behind him (yes it's a him), wondering what could be keeping him that long Infront of the machine. I waited for a while then when I couldn't take it anymore, since he doesn't seem to be doing anything,  I peeped through his shoulders (yes, did learn that from several formations back in school, I guess you can relate). Alas, he was just staring blankly at the password prompt on thE ATM machine. He could just have approached any body and he definitely would have gotten someone to assist him, but then you should never trust anyone at the ATM queues these days,  heard card swiping is the next hot thing. Not digressing too much though,  I beckoned to him "brother,  can you just key in the password? We aren't going to spend all day here" with the sound of my voice he jerked to life, looked at me slyly then proceeded to entering the password.

By now I have full view of the ATM screen, only for him to pattempt to withdraw thirty Naira yes #30.00. At first I felt it was a mistake, but then he repeated the process and did same,  guys I had to go closer and told him "that needs couple more zeros bro" then he shyly added more zeros and withdrew his three thousand Naira.
You need to see the number of angry faces looking at him as he walked away from the machine bouncing.
Funny but it was real,  I still can't believe he wouldn't be able to realise #30.00 is not #3000, mehn he was looking so sleeky though.

World Milk Day: Dano Milk Extends Nutrition Support To 2000 Children At Edo IDP Camp

As Edo First Lady Commends Initiative

In furtherance of its commitment to delivering impactful social investments in Nigeria, Arla Dano Milk has provided nutrition to over 2000 children at the Internally Displaced Persons Camp in Uguagolor near Benin-City, Edo State, Nigeria with the donation of cartons of Dano Milk worth millions of naira to the children at the IDP camp.

The presentation of the product done in commemoration of the World Milk Day 2016 held on June 1st globally, further demonstrated Arla Dano Milk’s commitment to increased access to better nutrition amongst millions of people across key markets.

Speaking at the short Presentation ceremony, First Lady of Edo State, Mrs. Lara Oshiomhole who was represented by State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Mrs. Hanena Jemitola Fulani-Ojo, commended Arla Foods and its brand Dano Milk for the initiative saying, “the donation of the products which is geared towards the provision of good nutrition to the children at the IDP camp is an initiative that will impact positively on improved quality of life at the camp.” Mrs. Oshiomhole further described the intervention of Dano Milk in scaling up the quality of nutrition for the children as exemplary and a celebration of our collective humanity as a people urging other corporate bodies to do same.

On her part, Marketing Manager, Dano, Afoussat Traore said the gesture by Arla Foods, Makers of Dano Milk was a response to the plight of the displaced persons who obviously need everyone’s support and empathy to be able to overcome the present phase of life they are in.

Traore further said Dano Milk recognised that nutritious food was essential for children, nursing mothers and aged people at the camp in order to keep them strong and healthier, thereby empowering them to do many mighty things.

“This gesture by Arla Foods Nigeria is all about responding to the humanitarian need of the displaced persons at this critical moment of their lives. We empathize with them and identify with their need to be provided with nutritious food so they can remain healthy and be able to live active life in spite of their current predicament”, Traore said.

While reiterating the company’s continued support to government and improved quality of life among Nigerians across communities, Traore disclosed that Arla Foods Nigeria would increase its social investments in Nigeria through partnerships and collaboration with relevant stakeholders.

She said, “At Arla Foods we are passionate about positively impacting the people and our environment by building partnerships that can drive various interventions. We are happy to partner with the Medical Women Association of Nigeria (MWAN); the Association of Civil Society Organisations for Malaria, Immunization and Nutrition (ACOMIN); National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA); and States’ Emergency Management Agency to make life more meaningful for Nigerians living in IDP camps.”

Also speaking, the member representing Oredo West Constituency in the Edo State House of Assembly, Hon. Chris Okaeben, commended Arla Foods for the kind gesture and called on other corporate bodies to emulate the company.

Since the first World Milk Day celebration held in 2001, the event has been celebrated every 1st of June. The Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) of the United Nations proposed this specific day to celebrate all aspects of milk; the natural origin, the nutritional value, the numerous tasty products which are liked by many people all across the globe, the economic importance of milk in rural regions as well as in the entire food chain.
